Protect your property from fraud and reduce the risk of it falling into criminals' hands

Protect your property from fraud and reduce the risk of it falling into criminals' hands - 06/09/2013

Protect your property from fraud and reduce the risk of it falling into criminals’ hands.

Property is probably the most valuable asset you will ever own. If you are a landlord and have one or more properties for rent or if you are a home-owner, but living away, there are simple steps to take to reduce the risk of fraud.

Since the Land Registry introduced an ‘open register’ system (where anyone can download a copy of your title), fraudsters have been able to target properties where there is no mortgage or the owner lives elsewhere. In some cases, tenants themselves have stolen the identity of the landlord, sold the property and run off with the proceeds of sale.

Property fraud is becoming a greater and greater problem – and the Land Registry is conscious that something needs to be done!

If you would like to find out more about the process to protect your property (which we already offer to our clients – free of charge), click on the link below or contact us.
